i won’t bore with all the details of my trip to denton this week, but here are a few highlights so far. they really don’t have much to do with denton…or with anything i’ve been doing since i got here…but i thought i’d share.

this is my arm at the current moment. one of the big reasons i decided to make this trip a few days long is because, due to the bonus system in place at the plasma center, i could get $80 for 2 donations of plasma this week. after my first donation on monday, the hole where the needle went in was still bleeding, so i put a bandaid on it. i peeled the bandaid off last night and 24 hours later, the mark is still there. it’s weird. and if it doesn’t go away by 11am tomorrow, i’ll be out $60 because they won’t let me donate if i have any kind of rash or markings on my arm.

in case you haven’t seen, pepsi has been rebranded. i would like to take a moment to congratulate them on a job well done.

ok moving on…

matty and i were renting a movie at the redbox in walmart tonight and came across this marvel. i’m not sure what to think about this. it almost makes me embarrassed to say i’ve been known to attend sunday school on occassion.

i’m taking an online class at community college over the break and this is an excerpt from one of my quizzes today. the answer that i have marked is actually the correct answer. i’m thinking my teacher has bad feelings toward this great state’s constitution, as she has also referred to it as “excessively long and wordy” and gave it an “F,” as opposed to the “A-” that the US constitution receives by her standards. this amuses me.

for your empty words and broken promises.
for ignoring my calls and canceling dinner over and over.

for making me pretend to support you while you destroy yourself. (i’m sorry)

thanks for still telling me you love me every once in awhile just to keep that hope alive that we’ll be as close as we once were. maybe that’s not such a good thing…

i miss you. you were my best friend. i hope you find your way back…and when you finally do, if you really love me, making that journey will hurt you as much as it hurt me.

thought i’d share what i spent about 15 hours doing today. i was afraid to stop because so many times i’ve started something like this, but as soon as i walk away from it, i forget about it or lose motivation and never finish. i didn’t want this to happen to this one.

i’m receiving messages from the future. haha check it out. this is from my deviantART account. i had just uploaded a photo and seconds later 2 people had marked it as a favorite. (cool in itself!) but when i went to check who, i noticed something funny about the time stamps…

do you ever notice on itunes that sometimes the song goes longer than the length it says it should? i have a few songs that will go a couple of seconds longer than the time it tells me…so in essence it’ll say 3:47 of 3:44 or something. there is one song that takes the cake tho. this one went a whole verse and a couple of choruses past when it was supposed to end. then there was a long blank space at the end of the song. i got tired of waiting for the ending so i tried to fast forward but it just skipped to the next song immediately. but seriously, check it out: the number on the left is the time i’m at in the song. the number on the right is the length of the song. (which oddly enough is a second off from the time indicated just below.)

i think it actually got all the way to like, 10:17 or something. that’s 4 minutes longer than the song is supposed to be. so weird.

ok i get that hurricane ike is nerveracking for those of us living on the gulf coast. the storm is on a straight path to my town and those not evacuating need to be prepared. but i SERIOUSLY doubt that north texans need to be stocking up on nonperishable food and generators. generators?!? really?? it’s gonna be a thunderstorm, people!!

p.s. it’s a little amusing that as i write this, there are 161 recorded evacuees in north texas, yet we are also housing almost as many animals. 126 of them have evacuated to shelters in the metroplex.

NP: I Don’t Wanna Be In Love - Good Charlotte

well i’m back in denton! yay! i’m having a blast and a half so far.

kevin totalled his car on the way up here on saturday, so we have one car to share indefinitely. it’s gonna be tougher than last year because we’re not surrounded by people with cars that we can hitch rides with when needed and of course we need a car to get to school. so it looks like i’m waking up at 7:30 to get kevin to his class at 8 two days a week, but i’ll survive.

i’ve gotten to hang out with my old roomie, sarah, a couple of times and am loving that. we just talked for like 3 hours last night. today i hung out with melissa and we had snowcones. i’ve gotten to go back to clark once, and plan on doing that again, possibly tomorrow. tonight kevin, jeff and i went to casino night at denton bible church. sooo much fun. it felt like vegas in there. all the dealers and servers were dressed for the part, TONS of hold’em and blackjack tables, craps, and live music that included impersonations of elvis, etc. it was glorious. at the end of the night i got invited to the high rollers table, but i only got to bask in its light for a couple of minutes as i played one hand before they shut it down for the night. i got to see a lot of old friends, including my old small group leader, a girl from my small group freshman year, a guy i went on a mission trip with last spring, a few random friends from church, and my old RA andy. sooo good to see him. i hadn’t seen him since last july.

now tomorrow matty is coming into town and i’m super excited about what the rest of this week has in store!

p.s. my new house is awesome and everyone needs to come visit. we’ll party.

so i pretty much have a great life at the moment. my house in denton is ready for me thanks to my awesome parents, i get to see my denton friends soon, i love the people i work with….and everything else is pretty cool too.
